Knox Hills was recently named a recipient of the 2009 Kentucky Governor’s Safety and Health Award.
Recently, Knox Hills was selected as one of the winners of the prestigious Kentucky Governor’s Safety Award. The honor was bestowed upon the team after being free of any serious safety or health violations for a minimum period of 24 months.
Knox Hills won the award by furthering their quest to achieve an incident and injury-free work environment from December 1, 2006 through December 31, 2008. During which time, Knox Hills employees worked a total of 568,000 hours, responding to 60,031 service calls without experiencing a lost-time injury or illness.
Knox Hills Project Director Matt Wilbourn said, “I am very pleased that the team here at Knox Hills has achieved this recognition from the state of Kentucky. It reinforces the dedication our employees have toward safety and customer service. The Knox Hills team has truly embraced the spirit of the Incident and Injury Free workplace and community, which in turn makes it possible for us to serve our Soldiers and their families in the best possible way.”
Knox Hills Asset Manager Whitney Trusty agreed adding, “There are no words that could ever show my utmost appreciation and how proud I am for this team and their achievement in receiving such a prestigious award; 598,000 hours of no lost time shows they truly live the Incident and Injury Free lifestyle every single day. It is a rarity that such an incredible group of people share the same compassionate and caring attitude to ensure the safety and well-being of their peers.”
Knox Hills employees will receive the award during a celebration ceremony on April 17, which will include a luncheon held at the Leader’s Club at Ft. Knox, followed by a tour of Knox Hills’ facilities by prominent government officials.
Knox Hills will also be honored during the annual Kentucky Governor’s Safety and Health Conference which will be held on May 7 at the historic Galt House Hotel in Louisville, KY.
